Eos is an original work by Sir Edwin Henry Landseer ( 1802 - 1873 ) commissioned by Queen Victoria as a surprise Christmas gift for her husband Prince Albert . Eos had come with Prince Albert from Germany in 1840 when he married Queen Victoria.
