'The Nubian Giraffe' By Agasse Mug
Painted by Jacques-Laurent Agasse (1767-1849) in 1827 this magnificent work of art depicts a giraffe calf sent as a gift by Mehemet Ali, Pasha of Egypt, to George IV. Arriving in England in August 1827 the majestic creature was kept at George IV’s menagerie in Windsor but sadly died just two years later.
In collaboration with the Royal Collection Trust, our highly skilled artists have reproduced Agasse's masterpiece onto a number of exquisite products, including this beautiful English fine bone china mug.
A work of art in its own right, this piece has been hand gilded for a luxurious and opulent finish.
